How to Remove Apple Important Display Message

You’ve recently repaired your iPhone and now have the dreaded “Important Display Message” you desperately want to remove. Whether you or a third-party phone repair shop fixed your iPhone, it can be unpleasant to see and affect your iPhone’s resale value. Fortunately, there are several solutions to remove the Apple important display message.

The good news, your iPhone is not damaged if you have the “unable to verify this iPhone has a genuine display” message. Because your iPhone wasn’t repaired by Apple or an Apple Authorized Service Provider, it will show this message regardless if the screen is OEM. If the important display message still bothers you, it’s possible to get it removed though it may not be cost-effective.

Furthermore, you can have your device repaired again and use Apple or an Apple Authorized Service provider. Repairing your iPhone at Apple will remove the non-genuine display message as expected. Alternatively, suppose you have an iPhone 12 or newer. In that case, you can order a new display from Apple’s new Self-Service Store. The new screen will be calibrated explicitly to your device and not have the Important Display Message once installed. Lastly, suppose you have the original screen from your iPhone. In that case, you can swap an IC chip on the screen to prevent the display message from appearing. Therefore micro-soldering and a steady hand are required to transfer the screen IC to the new screen.

Remove Important Display Message at Apple or Apple Certified Service Provider

The easiest way to remove the Important Display Message on your iPhone is to have your screen replaced at Apple or an Apple Authorized Service Provider. Though this is not the most cost-effective method, it ensures you never have the Apple genuine display message. Apple states, “visiting a professional repair provider with certified technicians who use genuine Apple parts is the safest and most reliable way to get a repair.”

Repair using Apple Self Service Store

On the other hand, if you are tech savvy you can order a new display from Apple’s Self Service Store and repair it yourself. Using parts and tools supplied directly from Apple you can prevent the important display message from popping up on your iPhone. For example, you can repair an iPhone 13 screen yourself with genuine tools and parts supplied by Apple. Screens are only available for iPhone 12 models and newer. Unfortunately, if you have an older device with the screen display message you will not be able to order parts from Apple to remove the message.

Swap IC chip on your display

Another method to remove the Important Display Message on your iPhone is to swap the IC chip from your old screen to the new screen. Beware, this is not for beginners and should only be attempted by professionals. The iPhone recognizes the display as the original by transferring the old IC chip to the new screen.

You will need your original screen to use this method to remove the Important Display Message. Because the screen is paired to your iPhone, you will not be able to use a donor screen to complete the repair. Suppose you or the shop which repaired your device does not have the screen anymore. In that case, you will need to either fix your screen through Apple, an Apple Authorized Service Provider, or use the Apple Self-Service Program.

First, you need to ensure True Tone is enabled on your device. To re-enable true tone, you will need to use a True Tone programmer. After reading and writing the True Tone information to the new screen, you will notice that the Important Display Message is there. Then, you need to transfer the IC from the original screen to the new one. Unfortunately, transferring the IC is not simple. You will need to know some micro soldering skills to move the old IC to the new screen. To demonstrate, we have attached a video that goes in-depth on how to swap the screen IC to remove the non-genuine display message.
