You may need to wait a few minutes before your technician is ready for you. The technician will ask you about the problem you are experiencing with your Apple device and may ask you to demonstrate the issue. They will then diagnose the problem and provide you with options for fixing it. This may include troubleshooting steps, repairs, or replacement.

Can You Trust the Genius Bar With Your Data?

You can usually trust the Genius Bar with your data. Apple has strict policies to protect customer data and keep it secure when performing repairs and troubleshooting at the Genius Bar.

Even with this in place, some dishonest Apple employees have been caught stealing and rating customer photos. Fortunately, this is a rare occurrence. If you share your passcode with a Genius Bar technician they may be able to look at your private data, files, and even photos. It is not recommended to share your passcode with anyone. To secure your data, take precautions such as locking sensitive files and wiping your device before visiting the Genius Bar.

Does Apple Charge for Diagnostics?

Apple does not charge for diagnostics at the Genius Bar. Customers can bring in their devices for troubleshooting and diagnosis free of charge. However, if repairs are needed, customers may be charged for parts and labor.

You have approximately 15 minutes to check into your appointment. If you’re late you won’t get your exact appointment time but your priority position is maintained.
